Andrew Johnson's Grave- Greeneville, Tennessee

One of the more complicated Presidents we have ever had, Andrew Johnson, rests in the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery in Greeneville Tennessee.  I thought it was sweet to learn that he is wrapped in an American flag with his head resting on his copy of the Constitution.

Johnson was a Tennessean, but remained loyal to the Union.  His attitude about secession would win him a spot as Lincoln's VP (this would be Abe's second running mate, but that's a story for another day).

Here are a few photos I took of his monument at the cemetery (along with a postcard scan).  The space was very calm and peaceful, with Johnson resting at the top of a scenic hill.  Greeneville is a beautiful town with some amazing history in a small area.

Hey Lyinn! Yeah, I also didn't know that until we visited Greeneville! Johnson was a very unique character!
