The skyway is 15 miles long, connects St. Petersburg directly with Palmetto and Bradenton across the mouth of Tampa Bay, cutting the distance from Central and 34th Street, St. Petersburg, around the Bay to Bradenton, from 70 miles to less than 20 miles by bridge.
