The Pirate House- Savannah Georgia

On our first trip to Savannah, we were lucky enough to stop by the Pirate's House in Savannah.  They had a really nice buffet that was just perfect for lunch.  On our second trip, we ran out of time, and couldn't get back to this great restaurant.  I wanted to make sure that we stopped by on this visit!

I know this business has a bit of a gimmicky feel to it (there is literally a person dressed up as a pirate walking around the restaurant) but they do have really good food.

I remember some tasty barbeque from our last trip.  It was not on the buffet this time, but they had some nice barbeque chicken!  AND a lot of other stuff.  It was all good.

We enjoyed walking around the building too.  There are a couple of underground tunnels here that you can see.  There are also several old menus and pictures of the restaurant from over the years.  This is a fun place to walk around after your meal.

On a side note...  and totally unrelated to our visit to the Pirate House....  I had an encounter with a SNAKE after our meal!

We left the building and were about a block and a half away...  enjoying a pleasant walk to our next destination.  Well, I heard my wife suddenly yell "SNAKE" and we both started backing up!  I looked down and around, and did not see the critter at first.  Then, after some adjusting of my focus, I saw a snake that was dark grey and black (blending in perfectly with the sidewalk) slithering in my directions!  If my wife had not yelled, I would have likely stepped on him in a couple of seconds!

He was coming towards me, but I think that was just coincidence.  I politely stepped aside (or, as my wife tells it, I screamed like a little girl and ran backwards) for him.

He went on his way, really paying no attention to us.  He was across the sidewalk before I could get a picture.
