The Springfield Illinois Visitor Center

Hey, while you are in Springfield Illinois, you MUST visit the WONDERFUL Visitor Center right in the middle of everything.  Its easy to find...  it is by the statues of Abe and his family on the square around the old Capitol.  AND- its in the Lincoln-Herndon law office, so, if you are seeing Lincoln sites, you are going to want to stop here anyway!

On our first trip through town, I remember coming here and taking a tour.  It was very nice and all.  There are still some rooms set up the way they would be set up when Abe was here (see photos) but there is also a very comfortable visitor center in this spot too!

A very nice couple was running the show, and they were more than eager to help with information and suggestions.  Being that this was our 3rd trip to town, they even challenged me by trying to suggest something that I had not done before (and they did)!

One thing that I LOVE at a visitor center, and one thing in particular that always impresses me is FREE POSTCARDS!  They had them here, and they were very generous with them.  In fact, when I mentioned that I usually send out many to friends and their children, they found some more designs for me in a backroom!

These guys are eager to help!  The building has a direct link to Lincoln AND you will be walking by it anyway.  PLUS they have free postcards, brochures, etc. etc.
