"Green River, one of the deepest inland rivers in the country, is an outstanding surface feature of Mammoth Cave National Park. Picturesque valleys and rugged bluffs border the shores of this stream as it courses through the park for a distance of about 22 miles. Mammoth Cave National Park, comprising 52,000 acres and established in 1941, contains two navigable rivers, the Green and Nolin."
