B.C. Ferries' "Queen Victoria" British Columbia, Canada Old Postcard

I'm guessing this postcard is from the 60s, but I am not sure.  It show BC Ferries "Queen of Victoria".  I was on one of the BC Ferries several years ago and I remember it being significantly larger.

Concert Memories: 38 Special, Owensboro, KY. 06/13/1993

38 Special at the LEGENDARY Executive Inn (destroyed in 2008) was a great show.  I am really glad that I was able to see several great rock bands at the old "Big E".

My pal Brent had an extra ticket to this one and took me.  I was pretty excited, and I am still appreciative that he offered the ticket.  $15 wasn't exactly pocket change back then, but, it still wasn't bad to see such a great show.

I remember that 38 Special sounded great, and they did all of their hits.  There was a good, appreciative crowd.

I need to google around and see if there are some pictures around from the showroom.  They had long rows of tables, and I think they had a 2 drink minimum.  I always thought that these shows were a little more formal than what I was used to, but it worked.

Union Terminal- Cincinnati, Ohio

Postmarked 1941 from Covington.  A grandma writes to her grandson in Michigan that she just got to Kentucky and it has been raining.

You are probably aware that the "Hall of Justice" from the old Super Friends cartoon was based on this building.

AND, this building recently was pictured on its own US postage stamp!

CPR Steamer in Active Pass, Between Vancouver and Victoria, BC Canada

This is another beautiful old Canadian postcard, with no information on the back.

We took a ferry from Vancouver to Vancouver Island on our trip a few years ago.  This postcard reminds me of that trip.  We visited several state parks with plenty of trees, and wildlife.  The parks are so huge, we often felt like we had every tree and stream to ourselves.

Here is a complete video of our "Wondering Woods" tour....  the newest tour offered at Mammoth Cave National Park!

This is a cave (separate from the main Mammoth Cave) that was opened for tours decades ago.  There was also an entire village attraction on the property, up until 1993.

Dead Ends: B.C. Crime Stories by Paul Willcocks

I was so excited to find that there ARE some interesting true crime Canadian books out there!  You have to look for them, but they are available!

I found Paul Willcocks' "Dead Ends: B.C. Crime Stories while looking around for any odd books on British Columbia.

Man, this is a very complete book!  It contains nearly 40 short stories (each one gives the basic facts of a notable crime from the Province).  The stories are to the point and are mostly just a few pages.

If you have been to BC, you know its a beautiful place...  and its not the kind of place that you associate with crime.  Still, throughout history, there have been some strange and scary crimes there!

Some I know I have heard about before....  a famous local DJ slowly poisons his wife.

Others I had never heard about.  AND many are just strange.  There are serial killers, racial conflicts, murders over wills....

There are unsolved crimes.  A train bombing in 1924 goes unsolved.

This was a great book to read before visiting the Province!  The author has done a great job of documenting notable crimes in British Columbia!

Capilano Suspension Bridge Vancouver BC Sept 2022

Since we had a few days to explore Vancouver, we had to visit their main attraction, the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

This is kind of a big deal, and we felt very lucky that we were able to spend a good chunk of time here.  AND, the bridge isn't the only exciting attraction here.

I mention it in the video, but I wanted to stress that there are free busses that can get you here...  at least from a couple of the main hotels.  You might want to check that out before buying an expensive ticket with a tour company.

This great old postcard is used, but I cannot read the postmark date.

Vancouver BC is one of my favorite big cities....

Miller's Bakery and Furniture in West Union Ohio

Part of the fun of visiting an Amish area is stopping by the stores.  They have cool stuff for sure!

AND, have a meal there, or get a nice snack.

We stopped by Miller's Bakery and Furniture in West Union.  I had a great pretzel.  OK, I had 2 great pretzels.

Thomas Kirker Sites Adams County Ohio

Thomas Kirger was the second Governor of Ohio.  As we were driving through Amish Country in Southern Ohio, we passed by a couple of spots associated with him.
