We had a great meal at the Mailroom, in Clarksville, Tennessee!

Sitka Alaska Post Office
On our trip to Alaska, we DID NOT get to visit Sitka.... I do collect postmarks though, and I corresponded with the post office in this great town, and they provided me with some great info and items for my collection!

Custer Kentucky Post Office
I collect postmarks as we travel.... as you probably know. Well, we passed the Custer Kentucky PO a few Saturdays ago. It was a bit after 9:30, their posted opening time. I went in. Lights were on. The window wasn't up though. I said "Hello" a few times, then left.
I will probably go back on another day that I am passing through....

Harrodsburg Post Office Art
A very short walk from Fort Harrod is the Harrodsburg post office! There are some great old paintings (I believe they were done in the 1940s) on display there! Make sure you see them when you are in town!

Mammoth Cave Post Office in Mammoth Cave National Park
I stopped by the post office at Mammoth Cave to get a couple of postmarks for my collection!
I encountered another cool post office employee here (MOST POs are ran by cool people who love local history) in Felecia Janes!
Felicia showed me several cool items from her collection relating to Kentucky and Mammoth Cave! She told me some cool stories about legends who have stopped by the cave, including Elton John!
She also knew a lot about the only President to visit the cave, Ronald Reagan! In fact, she had a VERY COOL personal story relating to Reagan and his visit! You should stop by and ask her to tell it to you!
I TOTALLY missed out on getting something postmarked inside of the cave in 2016 (I'm gonna have to keep an eye on ebay for that one). Anyway, stop by the post office next time you are in the area and get an actual Mammoth Cave postmark on your postcards!

Ala Moana Center, Honolulu Hawaii
According to Wikipedia, the Ala Moana Center is the largest shopping mall in Hawaii, it is the 7th largest shopping mall in the US, and it is the largest open air shopping center in the world.
When it opened in 1959, it was the largest mall in the United States.
So, I wanted to make sure we swung by here as we travelled.

AND, I saw that there was a post office here. I had prepared a few postcards to send out. I figured I would go here and have them mailed with a nice, Honolulu postmark on them.
We went to the post office first thing. This was a great post office, and the friendly lady I dealt with was very helpful, and hand cancelled all of my cards for me.
We walked around a bit, and visited a few stores here and there. Our friends who live in Hawaii now told us we had to visit the ABC Store for some souvenirs. This was a great store, and we found some of the basic knickknacks, and my wife found some nice jewelry items for gifts to take home.
AND, I will say it again, EVERYONE in Hawaii is friendly. The young lady who checked us out at ABC was extremely pleasant, and we ended up chatting some about payment methods and technology.
We did find the Lego store here. I have done some resin casting in the past, and Lego blocks are perfect for making boxes when pouring latex molds. I had another very nice conversation with the two guys working here about using Legos for this purpose. You could tell these guys love their job, and they enjoy talking to customers about their Lego related projects.
We ended up spending several hours here and found it to be a very pleasant shopping mall!

Gallipolis Ohio
So, the other day, I was listening to a great podcast I have recently started listening to, "Astonishing Legends". This is a great podcast that really covers a lot of ground. AND, the hosts are really in tune to what they are talking about. They often talk about some far out stuff, but they do their research.... and they obviously give a lot of thought to the subject matter on their shows.
The specific show I was listening to was from a several hour multi-part series they did on the Mothman. I love the Mothman and have read up on it a lot. I have been to Point Pleasant West Virginia several times. Well, on this show they brought up Gallipolis Ohio, kinda the sister city to Point Pleasant. They talked about John Keel (author of the Mothman Prophecies) and how he stayed in a hotel in that town when he visited the area. One of the hosts looked up the old hotel, and found that it is now the Regency Inn in Gallipolis.
You know, that is the sort of thing I am doing all the time. If I hear that something happened somewhere of interest, I am always checking to see what is there now, or if there has been a name change!

Anyway, a buddy was curious about the Mothman, so we planned a day trip out to Point Pleasant, with a brief swing through Gallipolis. This was my first time here, and I really thought it was a neat little place.
We went to the post office, which was a friendly place. We drove around a little. We noticed a couple of replica Columbus ships were in town. Man, I really regret that I didn't check this out more thoroughly, because I read that you could take a nice little ride for just a few bucks. We had kinda planned this trip out carefully, and we didn't have time to deviate.
We also drove by the Regency Inn, just to see it, before we drove on over to Point Pleasant.

Chapel Hill, TN
After our visit to the Forrest Boyhood Home, we followed some directions that Gene Andrews gave us, and we visited the actual monument constructed on (near) the actual Nathan Bedford Forrest birth site in Chapel Hill Tennessee.
I also stopped by the post office to collect a postmark!

Campbellsville, KY
We have routed ourselves through the town several times lately, mostly as we travel to the Mammoth Cave and Cave City areas. From my area, it only adds an extra 10 minutes or so to the trip, but the drive is so much more scenic!
Campbellsville is a pretty town too, definitely worth a stop. I walked around downtown some, and I drove through the campus.

I did try to patronize the college post office, but I got the impression that they weren't really sure about much of anything (I know... its a college post office, but I have always had good experience with the Berea CPO). I ended up driving to the community post office, and had a nice chat with the fun guys working there.
I really like the downtown area though. VERY cozy and some fun businesses.
