"Haunts of Owensboro" by David Wolfe

Hey, have you picked up David Wolfe's "Haunts of Owensboro" yet?

I've mentioned before that I grew up in this great little town, and I still love it.  I feel like the place gets very little recognition...  for anything...  so I am always glad when someone decides to write a book about it.

Luckily, my old pal David Wolfe has written a very odd book about hauntings in Owensboro!

David has spent time leading ghost tours around the downtown area, and he obviously knows the area well.  He knows a lot about the local history... and he knows a lot about ghost stories around town!

Being from the area, I really enjoyed reading about all of the places noted by the author.  I know each of these places, some pretty well.

Luckily, most of the old buildings brought up by David have businesses in them now, and they are mostly pretty accessible to the public...  so you can read about the ghosts stories and then go check the places out!

ALSO, David includes a good amount of photos in the book.  If he mentioned that someone on one of his tours took an interesting ghost photo, he includes it.  If you have read a lot of haunting type books, this is something that is very annoying.  An author might brag about having some cool photos taken at a location, they might even describe them, but often, they are not included in the book.  You will not experience that kind of frustration with this one!

Some names from the past come up in "Haunts of Owensboro" too that MUST be brought up when discussing ghosts in the area.  EVERYONE has some memory of the late Joe Ford.  I remember him coming to school and telling some great ghost stories.  He probably exposed a lot of young kids to their first spooky tales.

The Executive Inn is also brought up in the book.  You won't find this old legendary hotel in Owensboro anymore, but if you ever spent time in town, you will always remember it.  AND, though it is gone, a ghost book on Owensboro would be incomplete without mentioning it.

I could go on and on.  David has made sure that many spooky tales of Owensboro are immortalized in his book, and I am very glad that he did this!
