We remembered the VERY COOL cowboy riding a bagel sign in front of Black Hills Bagels last time we were in Rapid City South Dakota. We saw it again on this visit, and thought we had to have lunch there!
It is cozy and clean inside, and the staff was friendly. I had an AMAZING pizza bagel and my wife enjoyed hers too!
We talked to a very friendly fellow working there name Jason who told us about the businesses history in the area.
Hi, I am Jim, I love Kentucky, and traveling in and around Kentucky! I also love the entire country, and all of the beautiful and strange places here and there! Preservation Station Antiques in Owensboro KY
The former West Louisville Elementary School is now a very nicely done antique mall!
My buddy Rick took me out there the other day.
The building is cavernous and felt like it went on forever! I think anyone could find something here.
There is a restaurant too, which I hear is good, but it was closed the day we stopped by. I will look forward to trying it soon, on my next visit.
Check out my photos though. I love the fact that this old school is still up- and the community can still stick their heads inside for nostalgia sake.

Hariet and Oak Coffee- Rapid City South Dakota

I LOVE cute little independent coffee shops when we travel. We stopped by the VERY open and bright Hariet and Oak while we were in Rapid City.
You could tell locals love this place, as there was a stream of people coming and going.
The place is so big, there is actually an old van inside!
There are two levels of seating, and we enjoyed people watching from the upstairs area.
My wife enjoyed her breakfast, and I had a very nice coffee.

Fading paintings in Owensboro
There are a few wall murals in Owensboro. I remember when these went up, and they were much more vibrant at one time.

Again Books- Rapid City South Dakota
I neglected to take any pics inside of Again Books in Rapid City, but we really liked this used book store.
It was neat, well organized, and had a nice selection. I actually found 2 SIGNED books on local history, and an obscure book on religion, also signed all for a bargain price of about $8 each!

Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum Owensboro
My brother-in-law who lives in Owenboro loves the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum in town. He took me there the other day.
Admission is an affordable $12, so you should check it out.
When we walked in we saw a mandolin lesson/practice session going on in the front!
We checked in and walked around the museum. There is a large room of instruments that you are encouraged to pick up and play! I thought that was a great feature! There was a young teenager playing guitar in the room that was incredible.
We walked through some displays on various musicians and saw some videos. The museum is big on videos, and you could spend a lot of time going through them all.
On the 2nd floor you can see the room with wall monuments to each inductee.
I love music, but I am honestly not that familiar with Bluegrass in general. Still, it was fun visiting the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Elks Theatre- Rapid City, South Dakota
Directly across the street from the Hotel Alex Johnson is the Elks Theatre. Its a very nice place to catch a movie!
The place was clean and nice, and the young man running the place the day we went by was very pleasant and helpful.
There were some cool displays inside too.
As a side note we saw the film, "The Art of Racing in the Rain" which... does not get my recommendation.
That's OK though, even if you are seeing a movie you don't like in a theater like this, you will enjoy the experience!

Artist Alley- Rapid City, South Dakota
Right by the Alex Johnson is this great little artist alley in town. I think it was kind of an unofficial graffiti spot that has become a bit more formalized. There is some great work here!
