Tennessee Cider Company Gatlinburg June 2022

Hey, check out the Tennessee Cider Company in Gatlinburg!

They do a GREAT and fun tasting for $5, and they have some great deals.  We hat the fun and helpful Heidi help us at our tasting and this was a real treat.

I know Moonshine is big in this area (and, maybe a little overdone).... So, think about the hard cider place instead......  It is a lot easier to handle.

Smoky Mountain Knife Works and Relic Room in Tennessee June 2022

The Relic Room at Smoky Mountain Knife Works is one of my all time favorite places to shop.  They have an insane collection of relics for sale.  AND, many are very affordable.

I have found authentic Civil War bullets here for a buck.  You can buy actual pieces of dinosaur bones, meteorites, and other cool items at reasonable prices too.

Sure, if you are looking for that nice, center piece to your WWII collection they can hook you up but I love the fact that you can make several purchases for your mini museum at home and not go broke.

Pirates Voyage -Pigeon Forge Tennessee June 2022

So, we love Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and have been many times....  but we have never been to one of the dinner shows.  I know, that might sound weird, but....  we just never got around to it.

Well, on this trip, we went to see Pirates Voyage!

WOW!  This is really something special.  I have no doubt that we will be doing more of the dinner shows in the near future.  I honestly can't wait to get back to see Pirates Voyage again!

Obviously, you cant film during the performance, but I did take a few pictures, and I taped a bit of the pre show.  This is just a short video I put up on it.

The show was unreal and the food was amazing (and PILED on the plates) too.

Gatlinburg Tennessee June 2022

Yes, I know....  I have talked about Gatlinburg a lot.  I love the place...  AND, I know there is an overabundance of videos on the tourist town on line....  but I am still going to put another one up.  This is from a recent trip walking up and down the strip.  I would love to hear from others who cant get enough of Gatlinburg.

Berry Springs Lodge Sevierville Tennessee, June 2022

I have discussed Berry Springs Lodge in the Great Smoky Mountains many times on this blog.  I know we have stayed there close to a dozen times...  The place is just so perfect.

Well, on this visit I made a short video to show it off.  The rooms are clean and cozy.  The view from the balcony and back porch areas are perfect.  AND, there is always a great chance to see wild life (witch the video, I do get a few seconds of a bobcat filmed from our balcony!).

The breakfasts are ridiculous too.  I have said it before.  Some of the best breakfasts I have had in my life have been here.

Check out my youtube video above, and check out Berry Springs lodge next time you are in the GSMs.

Millersburg Kentucky Christmas 2020

Back in 2020, we swung through the Millersburg area on our way back from a Christmas event.  I made a brief video, but I wasn't happy with it.  It was short, it was dark at night, my car windows were dirty, the video goes out of focus too much..   so I never did anything with the video.  Well, as there was a recent fire in this cute little town, I thought I should go back and put that video up.

Mitch Hedberg at the Comedy Clubs- Tempe Arizona 2004

We were lucky enough to be able to catch the LEGENDARY Mitch Hedberg at a couple of comedy clubs when he was still around.  I have to admit that I am very proud of this.  He was easily gone too soon....

Back in 2004 we took one of my all time favorite trips to Arizona.  More on that later, BUT, while we were there, we saw an add about Hedberg playing a local venue that evening!  We knew we had to check it out!

We actually drove right to the venue after hearing about the show.  Mitch was doing two shows that evening.  We got to the venue and asked about tickets.  We were told the first show was sold out, and that, if we wanted to get in on the second show, we should buy the tickets now as they were almost gone.  We bought them!

That was something about Mitch Hedberg...  I think everyone had caught him on a late night show or something.  He wasn't starring in a sitcom or anything.  He was there....  he was different, and he was hysterical.  I remember talking to a comedy club owner once who said that Hedberg was the only touring comic that came through that he did not have to give away tickets for.

Mitch was great that night.  If you are too young to remember him, look him up now.  He was just funny as heck.  His deadpan/shyguy/observation humor was brilliant.

We were able to catch him again in Cleveland shortly after that.  I don't remember the date, but people were calling for specific jokes from the audience.  it was another great show.

AND, I remember hearing on Howard Stern one morning that he had died.  It was close to (but not on) April Fools Day, and I thought that this surely must be a joke....  but it wasn't.

I still have a couple of his CDs that I play now and then.  For some reason, I kept this promo card from some shows he did in Cleveland.  We were getting some great talent up there!  Check out the small promo for a pre-Tosh.0 Daniel Tosh!
